Motivations
The work I do is meaningless. Not that people don’t already know that we’re kept here for 2 years to do the unnecessary and ridiculous. Our superiors imagine there is importance in the work we do, only because it affects their careers or lack thereof.
Its funny how my superior in particular believes he can harness the abilities of his people and bring the best out of them. He thinks he understands how to motivate us. I gleaned this of a conversation, a conversation that included a term I disliked. A theory that I had butchered through analysis with great joy. MASLOW’s HIERARCHY OF NEEDS.
The curious bit being, he doesn’t really understand that the work I do, has nothing to do with being motivated by him. In fact I hand in substandard work, by my ability. But seeing how their standards aren’t too exacting he imagines I’m motivated by the small token gestures of “appreciation”. If only people were so simple…
A colleague and a senior told me, “He thinks he knows how to motivate, the only reason we’re doing this is because we have to, there is nothing else to do. End of the day, all these regulars are all pretend, they don’t appreciate your work and would claim the credit, even him” (it must be noted that my boss is probably amongst the nicest and fairest in the unit.)
