Perhaps Pride

It is always nice to return to an institution that is credited with your growth as a person. Its a warm feeling to be told that “I’d be there to applaud you”. However the greatest sense of pride came when I walked those short few steps to the aged man who could no longer remember the school’s name and shook his hand. Not because he was Dr. Tony Tan, not because I was top in Business&Management, but because I stood upon the stage, honoured in a manner in the place which means most to me. The pride is perhaps being able to ascend those steps, it is perhaps being for just a moment in the centre of this hallowed institution.

Nothing can beat that. Except perhaps, having a whole lot of people who feel exactly that same way, sitting around you, smiling with you, and singing the school anthem with you.

Ps: The new key for the school anthem is brilliant, for once, boys without the shrill soprano of a year 1 boy can sing to the right key.
